The original configuration of this cross-gable house is masked by the numerous additions and alterations that have been made to it over the years.  The front gable facing Chase Avenue is most likely the earliest section of this house.  Part of the small side porch has been enclosed, which may have been done fairly early in the house's history to provide the family with additional living space.  The large two-story gable at the north end of the house has undergone at least two alterations.  This section of the house was likely constructed sometime in the 1890s or 1900s based on the small chimney along the outer wall.  When the 2nd story of this wing was enlarged sometime around the 1950s, the top half of this chimney was removed.  The large chimney in the center of the house likely dates to the time of original construction.
